영어 답변: In Korea, many people believe that writing someone’s name in red ink means they will die

한국어 답변: 네, 제가 어렸을때 제 이름을 빨간펜으로 쓴적이 있었는데 저희 오빠가 그걸 보고 저한테 너이제 죽는다 라고 말했던거 때문에 그때의 충격 때문에 더 이상 빨간색 펜으로 이름을 쓰지 않아요

영어 답변: Yes, when I was a kid, I once wrote my name with a red pen. My older brother saw it and told me I was going to die because of that. I got so scared that since then, I never write names with a red pen.

 

4. Are there any superstitions related to numbers in your culture?

한국어 답변: 네, 한국에서는 숫자 4가 죽을 4와 비슷해서 불행하게 생각 합니다. 그래서 어떤 건물에는 4층대신에 F층이 있습니다

영어 답변: Yes, the number 4 is considered unlucky in Korea because it sounds like the word for "death" in Korean

So some buildings don't have a 4th floor and instead have an F floor.

 

5. Some people believe black cats bring bad luck. Do you agree?

한국어 답변: 절대 아니라고 생각합니다. 저는 검은 고양이가 좋아요. 저는 그 아이들이 검은색이라는 이유로 불운을 가져온다는게 말이안된다고 생각합니다. 솔직히, 그런 이유로 검은 고양이를 불행하게 생각하는 사람들이 저에게는 더 불행한 사람처럼 느껴집니다.

영어 답변: No, absolutely not. I actually really like black cats. I think it’s ridiculous to think they bring bad luck just because of their color. To be honest, people who treat black cats as unlucky for such a silly reason seem more unlucky to me.

 

6. Do you think superstitions affect people’s behavior? Can you give an example?

 

한국어 답변: 그렇다고 생각합니다. 예를 들면 사람들은 결혼 같은 중요한 행사의 날짜를 불길한 날에 잡지 않습니다.

영어 답변: Yes, definitely. For example, some people avoid scheduling important events like weddings on certain days that are considered unlucky.

7. Have you ever heard of any strange or funny superstitions?

한국어 답변: 네, 한국에서는 선풍기를 틀고 자면 질식해 죽는다는 미신이 있습니다. 제가 그 이야기를 처음 들었을때 어이 없어서 웃겼습니다.

영어 답변: Yes, in Korea, there’s a superstition that if you sleep with a fan on, you could suffocate and die. When I first heard it, I couldn’t believe it. it's so ridiculous that I just laughed.

 

8. Do you think superstitions are more common among older people? Why or why not?

한국어 답변: 네, 나이드신 분들은 과학이 많이 발달하기 전 시대를 살아오셨기 때문에 무언가를 설명할때 미신에 더 의지하신다고 생각합니다.

영어 답변: Yes. Older people grew up before science was widely available, so they relied more on superstitions to explain things.

 

9. Are there any superstitions related to dreams in your culture?

한국어 답변: 네, 한국에서는 돼지 꿈을 꾸면, 복이 들어온다고 믿습니다.

영어 답변: Yes, in Korea, if you dream about pigs, it’s considered a sign of good luck.

 

10. In modern society, do you think superstitions still play an important role?

한국어 답변: 아직 중요하다고 생각합니다. 하지만 예전만큼은 아니라고 생각합니다.

영어 답변: I think they still exist, but not as seriously as before.
